BER Analysis of BPSK-SIM based SISO and MIMO FSO systems in strong turbulence with pointing errors

چکیده
Free Space Optics (FSO) is one of the sprouting technologies in optical communication systems domain. It can be employed as an alternative for the conventional radio frequency (RF) links to work out the current limitations in communication systems. But, the major drawback in FSO communication is the effect of random environment conditions on its performance. In this paper, we analyze the bit error rate (BER) and outage performance of single-input single-output (SISO) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) FSO systems in strong atmospheric turbulence using binary phase shift keying subcarrier intensity modulation (BPSK-SIM) signaling technique. The closed form expressions are derived and the results are realized in terms of 2-D and 3-D plots.

In this letter, we investigate the error rate performance of free-space optical (FSO) links over strong turbulence fading channels together with misalignment (pointing error) effects. First, we present a novel closed-form expression for the distribution of a stochastic FSO channel model which takes into account both atmospheric turbulence-induced fading and misalignment-induced fading. Then, we...

In this paper, a novel adaptive cooperative protocol with multiple relays using detect-and-forward (DF) over atmospheric turbulence channels with pointing errors is proposed. The adaptive DF cooperative protocol here analyzed is based on the selection of the optical path, source-destination or different source-relay links, with a greater value of fading gain or irradiance, maintaining a high di...
متن کاملPerformance analysis of bit error rate for free space optical communication with tip-tilt compensation based on gamma–gamma distribution
In this paper, the gamma–gamma probability distribution is used to model turbulent channels. The bit error rate (BER) performance of free space optical (FSO) communication systems employing on-off keying (OOK) or subcarrier binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) modulation format is derived. A tip-tilt adaptive optics system is also incorporated with a FSO system using the above modulation formats. T...
